You can delete your Sip Journal account, and all of the data saved in it,
at any time. There are two ways to do it: in the app, which takes effect straight away, or by
email if you no longer have the app installed.
Option 1: Delete your account in the app
Open Sip Journal and sign in.
On the Journal screen, tap your avatar (the circle at the top right) to
open Profile.
At the bottom of Profile, tap Delete account.
Confirm that you want to delete your account.
If you are asked to confirm who you are, do so: enter your password if you signed up with
email, or choose your Google account if you use Google Sign-In.
Your account and all of its data are then permanently deleted.
from the email address your Sip Journal account uses (for Google
Sign-In, that is your Google account's email address), so that we can tell the request
comes from the account's owner;
with the subject Delete my Sip Journal account.
We will delete your account and all of its data within 30 days of receiving your request.
What is deleted
Deleting your account, by either method, permanently deletes:
your account: your sign-in details and email address, and for Google
Sign-In the name and profile photo URL provided by Google;
your profile details: first name, last name, coffee experience and
location;
all of your tasting journal entries, including drafts, flavours, tasting
notes, free-text notes and any locations you added;
all of your saved coffee beans and their tasting notes;
all of your brew recipes;
all of your equipment, including custom items;
all photos you uploaded for custom equipment;
all of your ratings of Bean Finder coffees, with the first name or
letters shown on them.
What is kept
Nothing. We do not keep any of your data after your account is deleted, except where we are
legally required to. Any copy left in a backup is removed as that backup rolls off, within 30
days. Crash reports contain no personal content and are not linked to your account, so they
cannot be looked up by account; Firebase Crashlytics deletes them automatically after 90 days.
Deleting your Sip Journal account does not delete your Google account. The bean
finder, brew guides and equipment catalogue are shared reference content: your ratings of Bean
Finder coffees are deleted, and the coffees themselves, and other people's ratings, stay.
